Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training

Becoming a Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
Certified Green Belts are in demand because organisations recognise the benefits that experienced Lean Six Sigma Green Belts bring to the organisation. The combination of Lean philosophy and Six Sigma tools creates a powerful approach to organisation improvement, and statistics show that a typical Lean Six Sigma project saves over £100K for the organisation. The role of the Green Belt is to lead local improvement activity and support Black Belts on larger projects. Typically Green Belts carry out improvement activity part time, and will continue to work in their existing role.
Becoming certified requires you to do 3 things:
- Complete training with a recognised provider
- Pass the exam
- Submit a successful project for review
The SigmaPro Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training Programme
SigmaPro’s Lean Six Sigma Green Belt programme runs for 12 days over 4 months in 4 blocks, with a gap between training blocks to enable students to work on applying what has been learnt to a live project. The programme covers the DMAIC methodology, is in line with the ASQ body of knowledge and is developed from the original Motorola model. The training is technically challenging and enables students to become truly effective at running improvement projects within their own areas of responsibility. It is not a “shortcut” to obtaining certification. On the programme students will learn how to:
- Support the introduction of Lean Six Sigma into the organisation
- Tackle business improvement projects successfully using DMAIC
- Lead improvement teams through the improvement process
- Use proven tools and methods effectively to achieve sustainable improvement
- Influence stakeholders and effectively manage the change process
The exam lasts 2 hours, and is part multiple choice, part written questions. There is phone and email support during the programme itself to help you embed the learning and prepare for the exam, and tutor review sessions during each block of training.
The Project
We use a clear improvement roadmap for carrying out real projects. Your first project should ideally be carried out during the training programme and you apply what you learn as you learn it. Real projects are what drives employers’ interest in the certification, and what makes it valuable. For each student we offer a pre-course briefing to help establish personal objectives, and advise you on a suitable project.
