Black Belt Role explained

Black Belts operate under Master Black Belt guidance and are generally the executive level of Six Sigma. They devote 100 per cent of their time to Six Sigma project execution.

Black Belt employees are usually expected to utilise their Black Belt skills in a full time role running improvement projects that will usually encompass cross functional business areas.

This means that Black Belts work primarily towards the success of Six Sigma and are not held back by departmental or industry borders. Although the role was initially designed as a full time position, we observe (especially in the UK and with smaller companies) that many delegates actually prefer a Black Belt certificate over a Green Belt, although eventually they only take up Six Sigma optimisation as a part time role within their organisations.
